ST. CHARLES LWANGA  CELEBRATION

The Office of Black Ministry of the Archdiocese of New York and Solid Ground Ministry, a Franciscan Ministry with African American Families will hold their Fifth Annual Feast of St. Charles Lwanga & Companions Vesper Service and Awards Program for Young Black Achievers on Saturday June 3, 2000 at 6:30 PM at Holy Innocents Catholic Church on 37th and Broadway, Manhattan.

Awards will be given to African American students in the following categories:

Academic, Student-Athlete, Youth Discipleship and Community Leadership.

The Office of Black Ministry and Solid Ground Ministry feel that it is important that we take the time, as often as possible, to recognize our young people who have achieved in special ways, often against tremendous odds and who stand up for what is right and holy, even in the face of great opposition.

During the Vesper Service for Saint Charles Lwanga,  students and attendees will be invited to pray the Prayer for Life and make a pledge to end all acts of violence.
