Solid Ground Franciscan Ministry
New York City
Remembers 9-
On the
10th Anniversary 9-
On September 11, 2001 and the days and months that followed the
terrorist attacks
on America, Solid Ground Ministry offered hope.
Solid Ground Franciscan Ministry (a
ministry of the Immaculate Conception OFM Province in the Archdiocese New York) led
by
Franciscan Father James E. Goode, quietly and without fanfare, prayed for the
dead, conducted memorial services funeral masses, ministered the sacraments
of the
Catholic Church to those who requested them, offered care, compassion, and comfort
to many, regardless of their race, color or creed.
Solid Ground Franciscan Ministry
with the help of Charles F. Wiser
and his late wife Mary P. Wiser, Bloomington, Minnesota,
assisted surviving family members financially.
On September 11, 2011 – the 10th Anniversary of 9-
Father James E. Goode,
OFM offered a concelebrated Mass of Remembrance with the gathered faithful, then
walked among the people of New York offering prayers, and words of consolation.
The souls of the just are in the hand of God,
and no torment shall touch them.
They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead;
and their passing away was thought an affliction
and their going forth from us, utter destruction.
But they are in peace.
